These soft, fluffy homemade rolls are perfect for your Thanksgiving dinner. They’re simple to make and will have everyone asking for seconds!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted, plus extra for brushing)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 4-5 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs (lightly beaten)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. Mix Ingredients: Add melted butter, salt, and beaten eggs to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.

  3. Add Flour: Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. You may need more or less flour depending on humidity. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.

  4. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1-2 hours).

  6. Shape the Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Divide it into 12-16 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.

  7. Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again until doubled in size (about 30-45 minutes).

  8. Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  9. Bake: Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  10. Brush with Butter: Remove the rolls from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter for a delicious finish.

  11. Serve: Allow them to cool slightly before serving warm.

Tips

  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the dough a day in advance and refrigerate it after the first rise. Shape and let rise again before baking.

  • Add Flavor: Consider adding herbs, garlic powder, or cheese to the dough for extra flavor.

These easy homemade Thanksgiving rolls will complement your holiday meal beautifully and are sure to be a favorite at the table.
